Piano Lessons to Fit Your Needs
Beginner Lessons
My name is Keum Soon Derrick and I specialise in teaching children who are beginners with little or no musical experience. I've been teaching music in Swansea since 2007.
Children can start lessons as soon as they can start reading letters A to G and small numbers. Every child is different. Sometimes they can start lessons from age 5.
Whatever their ability, I teach with the right balance of personalised attention, patience, and positive encouragement. And there is no requirement to take any ABRSM grade exams!
All lessons are 1-to-1 at my music teaching studio in Killay, They take place Mondays to Fridays and are usually 30 minutes with a mix of practical playing and theory learning. Parents are absolutely welcome to stay for the lesson (as there is a comfy sofa!)

At The Pace You Want
Music Theory
It can be hard to find a kind and very patient teacher that can teach Music Theory, as well as practical skills, and at the pace you are happy with.
I believe in an approach that provides positive, constructive ways to learn. Lessons are designed according to my students’ needs, whether needing to pass an exam, needing a little extra help with school work, or simply having an interest in the subject as a hobby.

Lesson prices
£13 for a 30 minute lesson
Lessons are on a pay-on-the-day basis.
Bank transfer payments are preferred, but you can pay in cash if you want to.
Lesson times
Monday to Friday
Lessons take place during weekdays and must be arranged in advance. Please note that the evening lessons are very popular during school terms and there is limited availability. During school holidays, children are welcome to have lessons in the mornings.
Announcement (24 March 2024)
From 1st April, lesson prices are increasing to £13 per 30 minute lessons. This price will be frozen for two years.
